From Field Technician to Manager
When I went from being an office equipment technician in the field to managing field service teams, I found trying to get back the control I had in my day was a struggle. I was used to being able to look at my service calls and plan the sequence I would do them in and then get on with my day.
However, when I started managing people and creating plans to improve the service we provided, I found that I was constantly interrupted by just about everyone.
I had some basic time management skills and would always create my To Do List each day, but because something was difficult to do, or it might take some time to do, or I didn’t like doing it, I would put them off and get the quick and easy things done, thinking, once they were done, I would have the time to get those more important activities done.
The problem here was, that as the day went on, the interruptions and the addition of new “important things” that had to be done urgently, meant the items on the top of my list that I had already put off, by the end of the day, simply weren’t done. And I was even further behind.
If I was to be successful at my role, things had to change. I attended time management workshops but they only provided a small part of the solution. Each time I would get back to my office with my new plan and intentions, I would still struggle to make my plan work.
I was frustrated and looked at why this still happened.
I found that there was more to time management and getting control of my day than just having a plan and planning my weeks and each day. I have to develop the skills needed to stop the constant interruptions to my day, I needed to develop skills to stop me from getting distracted and I needed to understand how to stop myself from procrastinating and putting things off.
As I developed knowledge and new skills in each of these people skills areas, I found that I had more time on my hands and started to get control of my days. Not every day is perfect, but the more days I implement these skills, the more successful days I have.

Over the past thirteen years, I have coached over 162 small to medium sized businesses and the number one problem I found that 99.9% of business owners have, is time management, they struggle to have control of their day and to get the important things done. This Productivity Coaching Program is the first of its kind.
I have spent years developing my productivity skills to enable me to get control of my day. As I started to notice that the biggest issues for virtually all business owners I spoke to, was being able to get control of their time and get everything they needed to do done, I took the time to review what I had done over many years to achieve this.
What I noticed was, that not one of the time management courses I had done, enabled me to get control of my day. They only taught you how to do the planning process of setting goals, creating action plans and planning your week and days. They did nothing to help you with the self-discipline and people management skills. This meant, that whilst you had this great plan for your day and good intentions to achieve the plan, you were at the mercy of constant interruptions, distractions and putting of doing things.
